There are 2 holiday cottages at Colstoun by the walled garden along with the gardener’s cottage and dovecot. There are also some rooms (up to 10 rooms sleeping 20) within the house that may be available for hire. Overall it’s around 22 bedrooms for up to 44 guests.

Yes, there are spaces available around the site for guests although some wedding parties like to use the front of the coach house for outdoor drinks so keep this in mind when planning which spaces you’d like to use. There’s more limited parking by the front of the house itself.
Is confetti allowed at Colstoun?

Yes, as long as it is biodegradable natural confetti. Plastic and glitter confetti are not allowed.
The grounds are also large enough for fireworks in the evening, speak to Colstoun to arrange where is safest and best to set up with a pyrotechnics company.

Colstoun don’t offer in-house catering, drinks management or event staffing but have a list of recommended caterers who can manage all of these elements for you. The coach house has a kitchen and scullery area big enough for all caterers needs.
There’s also kitchen space within the house for much smaller events.
Spaces available for weddings at Colstoun
Converted Coach House
The coach house capacity is 150. This space is often used for meals, speeches and dancing.
Outside there is a courtyard area, great for time between meal & dancing when the coach house tables need to be moved and any DJ/live act is setting up. Often coffee/tea will be served here and sometimes some speeches on a nice night can happen out here once the firepit is lit.
There’s some accommodation adjacent to this space as well. The coach house also has a kitchen area and scullery for caterers.
Walled Garden & Polytunnel
Ever changing through the seasons, the walled garden features lots of young apple, pear and plum trees alongside some other fruit and veg grown for The Mart in East Linton, Colstoun events and local caterers.
There’s an area with lawn which is sheltered for outdoor ceremonies on breezier days.
Next to this is the polytunnel (capacity 200 for ceremonies on bench seating) which has been used for ceremonies and/or drinks. Wouldn’t recommend at the height of summer as it gets very warm but great for spring and autumn weddings keen to use some outdoor spaces.
Reception rooms in the house
Colstoun, like all country estates, was built to host parties.
They've combined the house's history with the best modern-day service to create a memorable experience for smaller events.
There are multiple spaces within the house that couples can consider. Some use rooms within the house for getting ready and some for drinks. Smaller parties can be hosted fully within the house itself as well.
The dining room within the house can feed 30. The drawing room capacity is around 100 for drinks and 50 for an intimate dinner.
Check with Colstoun on availability and capacities of each space.
There are also rooms within the house that can be hired for the weekend for guests to stay.
There’s a small staircase into the house so not fully accessible.
Lawns behind the house
Another popular ceremony spot is over a little wooden bridge onto the lawns at the back of the house. Huge lawns lined with trees, couples often chose to marry under the trees to the side of the lawns where there’s a little shade on sunny days.
This area isn’t as accessible as the coach house and walled garden.
Marquees and stretch tents could also use the lawns for larger events as the ground is very flat. Speak to the venue for more information.

Colstoun House
A working walled garden, art’s space, private hire spaces within the 900 year old house plus converted coach house for parties of 20 up to 150 guests.
“Solen is an amazing photographer. After seeing her work online and chatting on the phone for an initial consultation, I was so excited to book her for our October wedding at Colstoun.
The wedding album is beyond our expectations - 100s of stunningly edited autumnal photos from so many angles it seems like there were 3 of her on the day - she truly captured every moment. Not only this, Solen was a huge part of everything going smoothly on the day. She perfectly planned things so that we had time to get group shots and lots of portraits without keeping us away from our guests for too long. The pre-wed shoot really helped us get over any awkwardness, but even without this Solen has a knack of putting everyone at ease.
Solen is a friendly, upbeat presence to have on your wedding day and just an all round wonderful person - highly recommend ♥️”
