welcome to Sounds from the Sea’s secret page…

What’s all this?

A little added extra. Links to things like poems, recipes, music, articles that have inspired or brought a glimmer of joy.

I’ll update this for each mail out when there’s a wee something something extra for you to have a nosy at. I’ll let you know in your monthly letter.

January treats

THANK YOU for coming along with me on this creative experiment. Each month I aim to collate a little selection of seasonal seaside inspired works, there will be a mix which hopefully works as a set and there will be added little treats like this.

While the snail mail idea grew from an urge to get offline and make more analogue art, to share in more traditional ways, I realise we live in 2026 and so a couple of little online features won’t hurt…and as the offline community grows, it will be great to introduce all the facets of my work to those who just find me through the mail club.

Tidal playlist

Here’s a little (very random!) playlist of tunes I’ve been listening to on the move while working. I often will make myself a monthly online playlist as I find it helps my neurodivergent brains to focus to have a bunch of other things happening at the same time…when I’m editing images at my studio I often walk on a treadmill with tunes playing so that I can focus and not get picture blind or distracted by my phone. At home I listen to vinyl records (they’re all scratched to hell and my collection has taken a battering every time I’ve changed homes/flatmates/had a relationship split)… so I like finding things to buy records of by making these regular playlists and seeing what sticks with me.

I’ll sometimes share them with you. Often they’ll have lots of Scottish music on them. I have always loved and tried to champion grassroots and local creatives, this began as a love of live music - I was a gig booker inhouse at a couple of 250 capacity venues many moons ago, while also working for most of the Scottish national music promoters of the time, repping shows, working at festivals and doing box office at wee gigs.

This love for grassroots has spread and is a focus of all aspects of my work - from taking part in small local art exhibitions to helping international couples design unique elopements and tiny weddings in and around Edinburgh and our lush east coast through hooking them up with local brands, spaces and independent small businesses that they might not have found otherwise but would totally champion if they lived locally.

Anyways…click here for a wee listen on Tidal (I deleted Spotify last year as they're the devil. Join me over on Tidal instead, if you can).

I am so tired of waiting,
Aren't you,
For the world to become good
And beautiful and kind?
Let us take a knife
And cut the world in two -
And see what worms are eating
At the rind.
