Your wedding day in Edinburgh is an intimate and deeply personal story. It’s also the best fun to photograph.

I first caught the bug for photography through dark room classes at my local college. Processing black and white film and the gentle rhythm that comes with counting the seconds in amongst the alchemy of it is magic. I’ve been photographing weddings and elopements ever since college, coming up for 13 years full time now.

And since 2020, I’ve also been helping couples design small-scale weddings and elopements in and around Edinburgh, focussing on working with sustainable independent local creatives and small brands over big faceless wedding industry businesses. We offer some basic packages as a starting point then build something bespoke for each couple and these are a collaborative process under the loose banner of The Elopement Society.

At The Elopement Society, I photograph neighbourhood elopements and small, local weddings in a natural, unobtrusive style. I combine film and digital photography to capture both the timeless and the flexible, creating images that reflect your day as it truly unfolds. I’m forever carrying too many cameras but that’s half the fun.

Whether you’re an international couple eloping from the US or planning a small celebration in the city, my photography is designed to preserve moments, emotions, and the rhythm of your day, not hours of posed shots.

I believe wedding photography should support your day, not interrupt it.

  • Natural & Unobtrusive: I document moments as they happen. Laughter, connection, and intimacy become the focus.

  • Artistic & Timeless: Film photography captures light, texture, and emotion; digital photography ensures flexibility and consistency.

  • Relaxed & Present: You won’t spend hours posing. Instead, the photography flows with your day, allowing you to be fully present with each other and your guests.

  • We take small moments away from guests to capture a little quiet, to feel present and grounded in the celebrations as it will all fly by and it will feel kinda surreal. We use the portraits time for you to be together and I just creep around, capturing that natural connection with a mix of digital and film, offering a heap of different compositions from the same spots so we don’t have to keep moving from space to space for too long, cherry-picking the best ones.

My Edinburgh elopement photography is designed to blend seamlessly with your plans for the day, not dominate it:

  • Pre-Ceremony: Gentle guidance and light documentation while you get ready. A chance for everyone to get used to the cameras.

  • Ceremony: Quietly capturing vows, reactions, and emotions without interrupting the flow.

  • Post-Ceremony: Walks, coffee stops, a glass of fizz and small celebrations photographed naturally, as they happen.

  • Relaxed Portraits: Brief, organic portraits if desired, never staged or forced. Although I might try to persuade you to have a quick sneaky first dance.

We focus on presence, connection, and the storytelling of your day, so your images feel authentic and timeless.
