What services do The Royal College of Physicians offer for weddings?
Event management, a doorman and tables & chairs are provided on the day. Exclusive use of the building is also offered.
What price is a wedding at The Royal College of Physicians?

Venue hire for exclusive use 12-1am on weekends peak season is £4750 in 2026 (no VAT as the space is a registered charity).
Hiring one room for elopements (either the library or cullen room) starts at £1650.
Accommodation isn’t advertised but I have photographed a wedding where the bridal party had hired an adjacent self catering apartment which seemed to be part of the building so best to ask the venue.
It is in the heart of the city centre and they do have some exclusive hotel discounts to offer their couple’s guests. There is a lot of self catering accommodation in the area too.

There may be one parking bay to the rear of the building available by prior arrangement for guests with disabilities but otherwise no parking.
The nearest 24 hr access parking is at St James Quarter.
Is confetti allowed at The Royal College of Physicians?

Confetti outside the front of the building, as long as it is biodegradable, has been allowed.

The RCPE venue have 3 preferred caterers who can provide all the food, drinks and event staff for your day.
You can provide your own drinks but there is a corkage charge and this is made to the caterer as they’ll be managing drinks on the day so this has to be arranged with them in advance.
Sample menus include canapes like crostini, bite sized beef wellingtons, profiteroles. Starters offered include dishes like sauteed woodland mushrooms or seasonal soups. Mains offer options like venison, salmon, tartlets and deserts like panacotta and sticky toffee pudding.
All menus include fine seasonal scottish produce. Vegan and gluten free menu options available.
Spaces available for weddings at The Royal College of Physicians
New Library
Gorgeous wooden library room lined with old leather books, with fireplaces at each end. There’s a small mezzanine that couples can use for photos too.
This space is often used as the ceremony space and possibly for drinks after a meal in the grand hall, as the space is turned around for dancing (for bigger events).
Natural daylight is provided by skylights above the double height space.
Capacity 80 seated for ceremonies, 50 for meals.
Cullen Suite
Bright room with pale blue walls and windows overlooking Queen Street Gardens.
Couples for larger weddings often use this space for drinks reception but it is also available for meals for smaller parties.
Capacity 40 for seated ceremony or meal.
Great Hall
Grand room with pillars and busts, this tall room features skylights as there’s no window light. Walls are deep red with marble.
Capacity up to 150 guests for seated ceremonies and meals.
All rooms are accessible but event team ask to be notified so the lift can be ready at street level for any guests arriving.
Physic Garden & access to Queen Street Gardens by arrangement
Couples can grab keys to the Queen Street Gardens, only by prior arrangement, for couple’s photos and for any formal family and wedding party groups if you so chose.
There is also a small internal garden space called the Physic Garden, this can be seen from the corridor to the library, too wee for groups (these can be shot on the front steps outside the entrance to the building or in poor weather at the entrance at the foot of the internal stairs).
