The details:

  • The Edinburgh city chambers is right in the heart of the city centre on The Royal Mile, steeped in history

  • City chambers has several rooms open for civil marriage ceremonies (and a couple of other rooms they offer for drinks receptions or private dining only)

  • The venue doesn’t offer exclusive use

  • Sticklers for the rules, this is maybe not the best choice for couples who are looking to do things their own way

  • Great choice for couples who just want to get the formalities in the bag and want a short and formal ceremony

  • Couples and guests only get access to the building 15 mins before ceremony time and will be asked to leave as soon as it’s time so not for the laidback

One parking space for the wedding couple may be available by request for the ceremony time only. This isn’t available over the month of August as the city hosts the largest international arts festivals and the street is used by performers and extremely busy with tourists.

Nearest 24hr parking is New Street, St James Quarter and NPC Castle Terrace. Each are a fair walk. On-street parking is restricted to usually no more than 4 hrs but is very hard to come by in the city centre, nearest potential spots are Market Street or Blair Street but are very limited.
