I’m Solen.

Double carb, abstract and surrealist art, sea swimming, music lover and solo mum based by the beach in Edinburgh. The name is French, from Brittany, like my dad (and no, my French is tres mauvais).

Starting out as a gig booker working in events across Scotland, I realised I my hidden talent — the ability to to herd drunk people from one space to another, quite efficiently, too! I’m a wee creep and I’ve always loved witnessing the relationship between performers and their audiences, it’s something I’ve missed from that part of my life. Probably the reason I enjoy event photography so much, I love shooting gigs!

I’m now a decade into shooting weddings (god knows how many) I’ve gathered up a whole heap of knowledge and contacts, and I’m not precious about sharing them. I'm guessing you don't get married every day? Working collaboratively with my couples is a huge part of my process and truly makes the whole memory capturing thing, that little bit more personal.

From my love of collaboration came The Elopement Society. Expanding my creativity and my community. The whole point being to work with couples looking for something non-traditional, personal and joyful as well as supporting local brands that I genuinely love. Since I (nervously!) launched in 2020, I’ve designed and tagged along to shoot so many elopements across Scotland and can honestly say I’ve loved every. single. one.

Our package list is growing, as is our community of collaborators, and the newest string to the bow is The Store. Beautiful products made ethically and locally has brought the whole caboodle full circle.

When I’m not shooting, in the studio editing and messing around with all the tactile beautiful things in the wee online store or coming up with ideas for local elopements, I’m either with my boy or hopefully out dancing somewhere, or trying to write crap poems to distract my busy brain so I can have a nap and start again.
