Wedding : Kristin & Andy, Biscuit Factory

Kristin and Andy threw a really fun relaxed intimate wedding in the beautiful old industrial Biscuit Factory in Leith. Expect a barrage of positive patter cos I having the best time shooting this day.

The dress

Kristin’s dress is a one-off piece by our pal, Rowanjoy. Rowanjoy sometimes has studio open days in Leith and sample sales where you can grab a total bargain to wear on your big day. Rowan LOVES to work with pattern, texture and colour so if that’s also your thing I highly recommend you chat to her.

We hung out at The Malmaison at The Shore for a bit before the ceremony. Did a Spinal Tap in the corridors and got a wee bit lost.

The Venue

I love the Biscuit Factory building. The team are lovely too. Having a building like this for events is pretty unique for Edinburgh as these spaces always end up as pricey flats.  I love all the light, the colours and textures, so much to play with.

I’ve watched performances there and just behind the wee stage you could see fireworks going off in the distance through those big ace old windows.

As a bunch of you know, I spent a long time working at gigs and I think there’s something about old buildings that hold a bunch of creative energy that just makes me feel good. Maybe these ones are full of tasty crumbs. I could stroke the walls all day long.

Kristin and Andy kept everything simple, no best folks, just a couple of flower girls (who were very good value on the dancefloor and games later), minimal speeches and traditions. The whole day was really relaxed and unique (not many wedding vows talk about murder alibis, for example) and they had some personal details like Kirstin’s lovely locket photos of her grandparents and a wee tip of the cap to their beloved 4 pawed pal at home (Kirstin wore dog earrings and Andy had a dog print tie).

Supplier shout out to Snapdragon for their simple and elegant florals and to Sarah Morrison, their humanist celebrant and self confessed groove facilitator who was lush to work with.

The Biscuit Factory have a bunch of sexy long wooden tables which look great amongst all the brick and metal pillars. Their festoon lighting is ace too.

Basically I just like to fantasize that it’s my chilly bright Lower East Side Manhattan studio apartment, where I live and work on making art in between freezing under big furs and blankets begging someone else to turn over the vinyl. I’m a pure romantic.

I also sometimes wish we all lived every day like a 6 year old who’s chuffed to be up dead late and aff their nut on sugar.

They’re always the best patter at the bit of a wedding before the dancing really kicks off and everyone’s getting well oiled after their grub.

Loved this day, thank you to Kristin and Andy for having me along to record it all.
