Brand Photography Edinburgh | Fair Trade Jeweller

We had a big old 8 hour play at Away Industries and it was great. The team at Aetla had so many great ideas so we just shot all day and I loved it.

Here’s a few shots of Michael. Some of Gemma and Ross and various combinations of them to follow as we shot so much and I can’t pick favourites.

Editorial Brand Photography for a Fair Trade Scottish Jeweller

Recently I had the pleasure of working with a local prestige jeweller in Edinburgh who specialises in fair trade, Scottish-made jewellery created by independent creative makers. As an Edinburgh brand photographer, collaborations like this feel especially aligned — thoughtful craftsmanship, ethical production and a deep respect for materials and process.

This jeweller curates pieces from artists across Scotland, each one made with care, transparency and integrity. From recycled precious metals to responsibly sourced stones, every detail reflects a commitment to sustainability and independent design. The brief for this brand photography shoot was simple: create imagery that felt refined but human, editorial yet grounded in real craftsmanship.

We blended digital and 35mm film photography to capture both texture and atmosphere. Film, in particular, suited the tactile quality of the jewellery — soft grain enhancing metalwork, natural light catching subtle detail, and a slower pace that mirrored the makers’ process. Alongside clean product imagery, we created lifestyle photographs that placed the pieces within a creative, cultured Edinburgh setting.

Brand photography for independent businesses isn’t just about showcasing products; it’s about communicating values. For ethical jewellers and artisan brands, imagery needs to reflect trust, quality and story. Working with local Scottish makers allows that story to feel genuine rather than manufactured.

If you’re an independent brand, designer or maker looking for brand photography in Edinburgh that blends editorial composition with documentary authenticity, I’d love to collaborate. Thoughtful products deserve imagery created with the same care and intention.
