HANDS
Another recurring fascination - human hands. I've noticed from recording weddings that couples who are very physically in tune with each other will have this playful dance they do with their hands during couple’s portraits. Hands can be just as if not more emotive than our eyes.
When I first started making art again in around 2016 I started collecting boards of emblems/symbols/motifs whatever you like to call them which reappear time again in work that I love and which inspire me - red velvet curtains, hands, eyes, circles, light leaks, shadows, the sea, certain colours…
And so hands have become a focus of work over the last year or two - mostly within collaborative work with Ailsa Lochhead for Art Walk Porty - movement in video installation and through photography, mixed media collage and cyanotype work.
